Spring Classroom Decorating Ideas
Spring is here, and many of our students are more interested in the great outdoors than being in our classrooms. Bright, colorful decorations for spring will brighten your classroom and help students as they finish out the school year. Here are some spring classroom decorating ideas to get you started.
Door Decorations
Here are a couple quick classroom door decorating ideas you can use this spring to help you stand out as kids make their way up and down the halls.
Since your classroom door is the first thing that students see each day as they come to class, try adding colorful spring flower cutouts to the door. Our Poppin patterns spring flowers are a great option if you don’t have time to make some of your own. The great thing about these flowers is their pollen free, so they will not make your studen ts sneeze!
Have your students make flowers, kites or other crafts using ideas from this book, Making Masterpieces, and attach them to the door with Stikki Wax Dots.
Personally, I just love this Spring Flower Photo Border. Place this border around a sign on your door welcoming your students to class or use this border around a display of pictures that your students have drawn of fun spring activities.
Classroom Decorations
We all know having a decorated room instills a sense of fun in the classroom. It helps soften the over all cold and structured nature of a classroom, which helps kids take in information more easily. Below are a few quick easy tips you can implement in one day.
A few green plants on the teacher’s desk or on a small table will look attractive and will bring the outdoors inside is a great way to. Plants are another great way to bring a certain comfort to a class room. You can also assign a different child in your class the task of watering the plants each week.
Place some baskets, small deck chairs, or folding lawn chairs in the corner of the classroom. You can even spray paint some of the baskets with pastel paint and place silk or tissue paper (Spectra art tissue paper http://www.kidsorb.com/arts-crafts/006300.html) flowers in them.
Bulletin Board Displays
Additionally, colorful bulletin boards displaying budding tree branches, green grass, and bright flowers created from construction paper, fabric, or tissue paper will add an attractive flair. Add items from the following bulletin board sets to add even more color to the room.
- Flower Bulletin Board Search
- Bulletin board set spring things
- Spring mini bb set
- Spring summer snoopy pose bb set
- Bb set spring fun
Bulletin board themes may include kite flying, bike riding, baseball, soccer, skateboarding, swimming or picnics. Have each student create a “person” from these colorful figures, and use these as the people on your themed displays. They can use these templates to create an image of themselves, someone in their family, or a friend. Another creative idea is to pin or attach stuffed animals or stuffed puppets to the bulletin board as the characters in the theme.
Even though each day is busy and sometimes stressful due to tests and projects, a bright classroom will help the students focus on learning and remind them of exciting summer days ahead! We always say, creating your own decorations, and having your students help in those activities, is the best way to spruce up a classroom. But, remember, we are always here to help if you need a few extra pieces to help complete the theme of the classroom, or to create a starting point.
